Joomla! is an open source Content Management System (CMS) platform for building websites. It's used by millions of people around the world and is second only to WordPress in CMS platform popularity.
I love Joomla. I use it daily and I am actively involved in the leadership, production and global community decisions for the entire platform. Not only is it a platform for building websites, it's also a platform for me to make a positive impact on a global scale.
Joomla! is a non-profit volunteer based organization and it has provided me with opportunities I could have never dreamed of. I get to have a say in the future of a major CMS platform and I get to travel the world to speak and teach others about Joomla, UX, marketing and community leadership. I can't think of anything I could spend time doing that is more worthwhile or meaningful to me.
I don't use Joomla exclusively, but it's always my first choice when doing website work. It's helped my business, my clients and me personally in more ways than I could possibly list here. If you're looking for someone in the Denver / Colorado area that knows Joomla, you'll run across my name at some point. I organize all of the Denver Joomla community events and provide resources to local Joomla users and website owners.
In one way or another, Joomla! has opened the door to every major opportunity I've ever had in my website career. I give back as much as I can because it's given me so much, and giving back is the true spirit of Joomla and open source. I had no idea my involvement with Joomla! would ever go this far and I'm not even close to being done yet. If anything, I'm more committed than ever.
I encourage all Joomla! users to give back as well. No matter how big or small, or your level of experience, everything makes a difference in the Joomla! community, and you never know where it might take you. If you're not sure where to start with anything related to Joomla, drop me line and I'll point you in the right direction.
